Subject: need help building box or boxes


just got two orion hccas 12s new.i am looking to build a box for them.or even two because these things are heavy.i could move them in 2 boxes.lol. im lookiing for ported box designs or anything that will guide me .after buying everything i cant afford to buy a box.so ill build my own.Plus they require some 1in MDF anyone know of a good place to start.THanks steve

Orion should recommended enclosure sizes / tuning for those drivers. Congrats on your purchase - those drivers look like beasts :-). With a lot of power, they should produce insane SPLs in sealed enclosures. Vented - ouch!

model the driver using a speaker simulator.
Find out what effect volume of the box has on response and SPL and extension.
Find out what port tuning does to effect all of those.

From there decide on a volume that meets your targets. Then design a box to match your chosen volume.
