Subject: Faulty System????

Ive wired my sub up. there seems to be no faulty connections in the wireing. however it only kicks in when i send more power to the system. (turn the bass to max) and even then the bass is brassy and isnt flowing smoothly. when i bought the kit the earth wire wasnt connected properly. now being an electrical engineer i sorted that problem out by connecting a coupling to it. and also to the signal wire coming from the stereo to the sub. can anyone please explain why its being like this and a solution of how to fix the problem.

many thanks Bart
