Subject: How do I "BUILD" a SUBWOOFER?

I came across this internet site:
http://neurosis.mit.edu/mjolnir/
contacted the guy in the picture, but was unable to get information on actually building a subwoofer like the one in the picture. Would anyone know how to BUILD a subwoofer? this site from a quick over view seems to be about boxes, and frequencies, im looking for INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BUILD A SUB
for either a home system, or my car

umm
normaly you leave the designing subwoofers to the manufacturers, simply because it is so complex.

they dont even tell you what materials they used or how efficient it is,or how much power to use.
he says it shakes the building, but doesnt refer to any actual tests such as frequency response.

when you make your own,it may just turn out crap!

notice how the box is 38cubes, can u fit that in your car?

if you want a normal sub,get a shiva or tempest or CV.
put in a few cubic feet, and ur guaranteed a sub that works.

if you want a good sub with huge output,go basshorn.

it is interesting though.

Yeah, basically its out of interest. Looked simple enough, more for a "I have nothing to do day, Lets build a subwoofer"
definately wouldnt fit in my car, but would defiantely be a interesting talked about peice for a 17 year olds home entertainment system

there is a reason why 18inchers cost $$$$
because they are quality and have ideal T/S specs :-P

i myself wanted to make /get my own HUGE woofer since i saw 'back to the future' ages ago..

i dislike random specs of the woofer though,i would only if i could approximate the specs to make sure i wasnt wassting my time

:)

It also probably wouldn't sound good unless you get ONE REALLY NICE servo... which can run you hundreds of dollars. You'd be better off buying an expensive JL audio sub or a tumult than trying to build one with no experience in it.
I'd sure like to see it though!

I'd do it. Maybe it will sound like me farting in a fish tank, but wouldn;t it be fun, just to do it, and say you have? And to solve the cost of servo's, make your own, not too hard, just takes TIME...
