Subject: 2 1203's for my 6500d?

i have 1 bpd1203 powered by a mtx thunder 6500d, i want even more bass tho, if i added another bpd1203 then would the amp power that one also and have enough power for both of them?

With 14.4v to the amp, MTX says it will output 775wrms/1channel @ 2ohms. Wire the two BPD1203s in parallel for a 2ohm load, then hook that to the amp. That way you'll attain the most power possible to the drivers, ~387wrms each @ 2 ohms.

In the caddy, you'll never get 14.4V.... just won't happen. With a pair of good caps, you can stay at 13.8 though..... constant.

Ultimately, for the here and now, it could work if both drivers were wired in parallel. However, b/c of the size of the amp, be careful when really cranking on it. I believe that amp is 2 ohm stable, well the Revc of the bpd1203's is probably between 3.6 and 3.8.... which means when wired in parallel (or essentially cut in half) you are looking at a 1.8 ohm load or so..... which at high volumes could cause amp clipping.

This may not necessarily happen though....
Also with this amount of power, switching to a ported design could help........ and you could port right through the rear deck of the trunk..... which would give insane amounts of output into the car......

In the end, you'll just want to pick up another 6500D...

Yes, however may be able to tolerate the impedance difference (as you've already stated...)

I think it could work quite well for the time being though, until he decides to upgrade the amp.

"this is such a dumb question but how do u wire it in parellel? and is it possible that it isnt in parallel right now with the one driver i have?"

No, its not wired in parallel at the moment, as you only have one 1203. Two drivers are required to wire in parallel. For parallel connection for a 2ohm load total on the two 1203's, you must wire the positive terminals on each driver togethor, and the negative terminals on each driver togethor. Then, a wire going from the outputs of the amp to one of the drivers. This will present a 2 ohm load.

The Audio Source 15" subwoofer you mentioned is a home theatre subwoofer, and is already in its own box with powered amp (assumingly). I would not reccomend it for the car. You wont need it anyway: two BPD1203's is enough, and you wont have enough power for the 15"er anyway.
