Subject: Can i do this ?(6th order question)

Ive succesfully built one 6th order using a radioshack 6.5". My question is,.. if i built 3 more of these boxes (using 3 more of the exact same speakers each tuned to a different frequency range) can i cover a larger band of frequencies to get a sort of "church organ" effect? Say i played one of those bass cd's that goes through a range of bass notes, would each of the 4 boxes play its own specific (tuned) note? Would this work? And if so, is there a benifit?

Thanks,

Claudio

Honestly, I hardly see any point in doing this. You'd be better off making them all the same design, as it will be able to handle all frequencys above F3 anyway and up to the xover point. You wouldn't get a church organ effect either way, but the driver should handle all frequencys within its passband anyway. Make the F3 the lowest frequency you want played (however, the driver may not be able to handle this, make sure it can first) and use that, as it will (of course) play all frequencys above that point as well.

I apologize for not supplying my e-maIL HADNLE,

NO! STOP! Find another hobby...?!

(Please forgive me if I appear rude. I'm just somewhat knowledgable. I built a proper sub woofer in 1984;
it works (very, very well) and I know what you want to do...

You will need about $1000 and woodworking skills,
real though basic electronics skills and
power tools (circular saw at least). to MAKE
a subwoofer. Forget most of the newsgroup stuff.
If you want advice you could write to me...

(NO!! I don;t want to start a flame war.
I only speak from experience.) Just either
forget about low freq. stuff OR DO IT PROPERLY.
AND I AM TALKING ABOUT MUSIC (F*** [forget]
HOME THEATRE. If you want theatre, go out
and see some LIVE STUFF with your woman! You'll
enjoy it. Particularly if it's what U like.

HOME STEREO: NOW THERE _IS_ a DIFFERENT STORY (^3)

If U R stuck in a country town, just turn up your
Led Zep / Cyril Verdeaux , whatever...)

There are NO half measures. (!^99)

If saving money is important to you, [NO SHAME!],
if you can use headphones (don't have public listening
in mind like impressing girls {that's how I think, sometimes ;-)} then GET YOURSELF a pair of :
STAX SR-44 headphones (make sure they are in good nick)
or a pair of YAMAHA HP-2's. now you may not realise this, but I am trying to give U good advice.
Please take it as intended (HAPPY TRAILS!!!)
An if U don't agree treat it as OPINION. G.B.
(God bless / Get Blind!) [I'm trying to drink less...]

Opinions are welcome - just post e'm to THE GROUP ;-)please ;-)

People who have built their own sh** - STUFF (and can prove that it works O.K., not like sh**) are welcome to e-mail me.

People who have built sh** that doesn't sound so
nice are welcome to call me in the news group...

AFTER ALL, WHO SAYS I'VE GOT THE MAGIC ANSWER
TO ALL YOUR {siganl processing} PROBLEMS??

But U never know...

Don
